Paintball Sports is the old version and adapted to competition for leisure of the same name. It can either be classified as extreme sports (by it feels) or in sports (because the launchers used by players to send the ball). Much work has been done to rid the sport of paintball its military connotations, the camouflage uniforms and red balls are prohibited in competition, for example in France. Paintball Sports is also distinguished by the use of a standardized field symmetrical allowing viewers to follow the games safely. In competition, the grounds are made of artificial obstacles (usually air) arranged symmetrically and to be completely surrounded by nets six feet high to prevent splashing of balls on the audience. Despite the name paintball sport, this activity is regarded in France as a "recreational physical activity" and not a sport, by the Ministry of Sports. Paintball sports federations are grouped under the European entity EPBF (European Federation PaintBall) administers a licensing system common to private and associative circuits. The same EPBF is under the auspices of the UPBF (United Paintball Federation) gathering of American and Asian federations. There is however still no real world circuit organized. It will not be surprising that soon the Federation has come to shake the world to succeed is to ensure that Paintball has become a sport itself.
